Lukewarm

So, I live in an area of the country where the weather can change without warning. One day it will feel like a rain forest and the next day it can feel like an iceberg.  For example this past weekend I spent Saturday by the pool in hot 90 degree heat, a typical summer day in KY, however Sunday was a slightly different story.  Our oldest son had a baseball game, most days I would have been thrilled to be at the baseball field on a Sunday afternoon... NOT this time though. Sunday was unseasonably COLD for KY, roughly 65ish degrees with 15 mph wind and misting rain.... smh lol! To make matters worse I wasn't prepared for the weather at all.. I wore a skirt and a very thin blouse to church that morning.. not a good combo for cold weather. Oh and flip flops.. as if flip flops will keep your feet warm. Plus we had one blanket to share between three people and one jacket. Praise the Lord we have wonderful parents who brought us more clothes to stay warm lol. I spent a good portion of the afternoon sitting in the trunk of my car wrapped tightly in a blanket trying not the freeze to death. (pictured below)
We have a saying in KY about the weather, "if you don't like the weather just stick around for awhile, it will change." It is such a true statement for the area we live in hot then cold, cold then hot.

Hmmmm, makes me wonder about our spiritual journey. Often times our spiritual walk with Christ can change like the weather. You might ask yourself just as I have Am I hot? Am I cold? Am I lukewarm? Or am I ON FIRE for Jesus? Well lets be honest here, lets be real for a moment! If your like me you would probably say, "I'm on FIRE for Jesus". I attend church every time the doors are open (mostly), I pray on my way to work every morning, I read scripture through my daily devotions, and I listen to K-love, without a doubt that's FIRE for Jesus. But wait, is it?  Jesus died on a cross to save our souls and this is all the time we are willing to give Him?!?! Seriously?!? I'm thinking that's not fire at all only LUKEWARM!!! Is this what our God wants from us? Is that what He deserves??  No it's not what He wants from us, and it is certainly NOT what He deserves. He wants ALL of us and deserves ALL of us!! He doesn't want to be worked into our schedule. Revelation 3:16 says: So, because you are lukewarm-neither hot nor cold-I will spit you out of my mouth. WOW! OUCH!! God said because you are lukewarm I will spit you out of my mouth! I don't know about you but I don't want God to spit me out of his mouth! I want to give God what He deserves. And that wonderful day when I stand before my God I want to hear "Well done my good and faithful servant, well done"! Today is the day my friend, lets give our God what He deserves.  The first step is spending time with God, more than just time during your commute to work. Spend time in prayer my friends, and spend time in the Word. Our job as followers is to share Christ with those who don't know him. He never said it would be easy or that He would be easily accepted. Seek His guidance in every decision, every worry, and every distraction.   Instead of working God into our schedule lets work our schedule around Him. Lets not change like the weather, no more lukewarm only FIRE for Jesus!
