A normal trip to Dollar General store a few days ago resulted in a profound experience with this simple eraser. Silly I know, but it's true. I'm sure you're thinking, Really?! It's an eraser.. what on earth could you learn from an eraser. I didn't expect it either, as matter of fact I was blindsided by the epiphany. I was just strolling through the isles minding my own business and the eraser nearly smacked me right in the face. It's funny how God can use even the most simple things to speak to us, when our eyes are open.
I stood there in the isle and stared at this eraser, and my eyes filled with tears. My heart ached as I thought about all the mistakes I've made. Thoughts of how unworthy I am, how I deserve far less than I've been blessed with. I thought about all the times that this eraser would have come in handy in my life. All the ridiculous, stupid, BIG mistakes I've made. Then I thought, If only I could go back and erase them. If only there were a jumbo eraser for life's mistakes.
Have you ever wished the same thing? Wished that you could go back in time and change some of the choices you made? Maybe, you're like me and you wish you could simply erase parts of your past. Problem is, we can't. Our choices and mistakes are part of our life, unfortunately we can't edit them, we have to live with them. No matter how big, bad and painful our choices may be we have to accept them. We have to accept that we are human and mistakes are part of life.
Standing there in the middle of Dollar General store, all these thoughts flooded my mind. I stood there with tears rolling down my cheeks, almost frantic in this revelation. Then I realized, God was using this simple eraser to remind me of his promise. He wasn't trying to remind me of my mistakes, he was reminding me that Jesus is my jumbo eraser. His blood covers all my mistakes, covers all my sin. God sent Jesus to die for me because He know's I'm a sinner! He knew I needed redemption, He knew I needed a Savior.
You see my friends, Jesus is our life size jumbo eraser, He covers all our iniquities. His blood covers all our sin. Yes, we make mistakes, but the Good News is, Jesus erased them all when He died on the cross.
1 John 1:9 says, If we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Isaiah 1:18, Jesus said, "Come now, let us settle the matter, Though your sins are like scarlet they shall be as white as snow, through they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.
Acts 3:19, Repent therefore, and turn again so that your sins may be blotted out.
His Word, so clear and concise. Promising us a love that surpasses all understanding, a love without limits. A love so big He sent his only Son to die for YOU, for your sins, your mistakes, for your iniquities.
Of course the enemy wants you to believe you are unworthy, that Jesus died for everyone but you. That your mistakes are far to bad to be covered.. My friend stop allowing him to blind you from the Truth! He will constantly remind you of your mistakes, he wants you to be miserable. Don't allow him to steal your joy, peace, and happiness anymore. Stop believing his lies.
You know the Truth, the blood of Christ covers all your sins, erases them like a jumbo eraser.
Remember your mistakes do not define you, Jesus said you were worth dying for, that defines you! YOU are a child of the King!
